Auriculariales auricula or wood ear is a species of edible mushroom found worldwide. The fruiting bodies are distinguished by their ear-like shape and brown color. The mushroom was used in folk medicine to treat sore throats and as an astringent. While edible, it is best prepared cooked and is typically found in Asian dishes.
