Pestalotiopsis microspora is a genus of ascomycete fungi. Pestalotiopsis is often referred to as the plastic eating mushroom after students from Yale found the fungi in the Amazon. They were able to demonstrate that the fungi could grow on the synthetic polymer polyurethane.
